It's important to understand why your little tiger is doing this. Many times, we just jump to the conclusion that they are misbehaving or that they are not well-trained instead of looking into the underlying cause. Some of the possible causes that a cat would urinate outside the litter box are:
- The Litter Box. Some cats have an aversion to some types of litter. Sometimes, it's the box, as the edges are too high. Or the litter box needs to be tidied up more often. Some cats prefer scent-free litters, others prefer covered litter boxes, and most prefer privacy and not having the box in the open.
- Health Problems. Some illnesses such as diabetes and kidney disease can cause your little one to urinate more often and accidents happen. In this case, supplements such as NHV Mellit (for diabetes or pancreatitis) or NHV Tripsy (for kidney disease or to support the liver) may be beneficial.
- Stress. The arrival of a new pet. Moving. Separation anxiety. All these can result in bad behavior, peeing or pooping outside the box, aggression, or loss of appetite. Some basic care to relieve stress is offering fresh water and toys, along with supplements such as NHV Matricalm (for anxiety and stress support).
