For itching we recommend the Alge-Ex and the Stimmune. These are both for allergies, but they work in different ways with the Alge-Ex being more targeted to environmental allergies and the Stimmune more so for food allergies, of which she suffers from both. They have the same goal, helping to regulate histamine response, fighting infection and supporting the immune system, but they do this with different herbs which work in different ways in the body. For your pup’s eyes, unfortunately that’s a bit more difficult if the diagnosis is KCS. This is caused by an immune response in the body which slows the tear production. The Stimmune drops are trying to reduce that immune response. The Stimmune can be helpful for this, as it doesn’t ‘boost’ the immune system, but rather, balances it. Another great supplement for immune support/balance is the Natures Immuno, which we have also recommended for KCS in the past. Our Ey Eas can help if the eyes become infected or inflamed, but they will not offer a whole lot of lubrication. All you can do for lubrication is frequent tear replacement with a tear replacement drop or gel.
Our rescue Amstaff is allergic to all animal proteins and has major environmental allergies year-round. She still itches and licks like crazy, but it keeps most hair on her and the hot spots and ear infections to a minimum. She also has major dry eye.
