Can you recommend anything for my dog who won't stop chewing his toes?

Generally, chewing of the toes can be caused by a number of things. From allergens or a fungus infection to stress and anxiety, it narrows down to signals of discomfort for your pup.

Allergies can be difficult to narrow down. They can be food-related or environmental. Sometimes, changes in the home like new rugs, new household products, or even new soaps or shampoos can cause an allergy. Food allergies can be caused by any change in the diet or by changing brands.

Aside from allergies, licking at the feet can also signal discomfort. If your pup is only licking one foot, or only licking the front or the back feet, this could signal that something is uncomfortable. Check between his toes for any growths, foreign materials, matted hair, or a smell of stale bread (yeast infection). A Bichon/Poodle mix may definitely have some matted fur between the toes. Your vet or groomer can help to remove these.

There are several supplements we can recommend, depending on your little one's situation:

  1. NHV Stimmune encourages the body to respond more appropriately to allergies. It helps to support the immune system and fight recurring infections.
  2. NHV  Alge Ex helps to control the histamine production in the body. It helps to reduce inflammation and itchiness.
  3. NHV All Clear Ointment helps with several skin problems, such as dermatitis, bacterial, fungal, parasitic, and viral skin conditions, allergies, fleas, ticks, wounds, and scratches that may cause the skin problem.
  4. NHV Lessstress is beneficial for stress, anxiety, and other nervous system issues, and it may be used for situational stress and chronic stress.
  5. NHV Turmeric helps with pain and discomfort, useful when there is joint issues and in need of some support.
