That’s a great question!
Yes, NHV supplements do contain a small amount of food-grade vegetable glycerin and alcohol. The alcohol is used in the extraction process to help draw out and preserve the active herbal compounds. However, once the herbs are blended into the final formula, the alcohol content is very minimal.
Why is it used?
- It’s a natural and effective way to preserve the potency and shelf life of the herbs
- It helps extract certain compounds that water or glycerin alone can’t
- It’s used in extremely small, pet-safe amounts
What if I want to reduce the alcohol content?
No problem! You can gently warm the dose in a bit of hot (not boiling) water for 10–15 minutes before giving it to your pet. This will help some of the alcohol evaporate while keeping the herbal properties intact.
All of our products are vet-formulated and safe for long-term use, even for sensitive pets, and we’re always happy to help you adjust the dosing method based on your comfort and your pet’s needs.
